Obituary

Ada Jean Nethers, age 88, of Newark, passed away on January 11, 2024. Ada was born on December 3, 1935, to the late Troy Thomas and Margaret Alice (Moore) Davis, in Newark, Ohio.

Jean grew up in the children's home after the death of her mother. She spoke highly of her Mom and Pop Zerger, but she always felt a deep loss for her parents. She graduated from Newark High School in 1953 and regularly attended her class reunions and luncheons with close friends.

After her children were older, she worked at the Eden Elementary School cafeteria, followed by working at Jolly Pirate for many years. She then worked at Glenn's Market for 25 years before retiring.

Jean lived for her family and all their gatherings and activities. She was best known for all the cards she sent family and friends. She was a big fan of 'her' Pittsburgh Steelers and North Carolina Tar Heels and enjoyed her trips to Myrtle Beach.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert Dean Nethers, to whom she married on October 1, 1954; children, Steve (Shelly), Sherry, Chris (Pam); grandchildren, Colton (Sarah), Dillon (CheyAnn), Josie (Rodney), Carson, Brandy, Casey; great grandchildren, Luke, Madi, Millie, Logan, Austin, Mason; special niece Shell Stevens, who lived with Dean and Jean for a few years in early childhood; family friend Larry (Wendy) Tyree; special friend Tina Nichols; many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by brothers Jack Davis and Doug Heffley; sister Laura Baughman; special sisters-in-law, Mary (Irish) Davis and Barb Heffley; and father and mother-in-law, Charlie and Margaret Nethers.

The family REQUESTS that only the Davis, Moore, and Nethers family members attend the visitation and funeral. Casual dress and bright colors are welcome. The visitation will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 6–8 PM at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, where her service will follow on Friday at 11 AM with Nancy McDonald and Sherry Bailey officiating. Burial will take place in Rocky Fork Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
