Andrew Jordan McHenry, 37, of Newark, was tragically taken from his family Friday, December 27, 2024 in Detroit, Michigan. He was born December 13, 1987 in Newark to Robert McHenry and Rebecca (Davidson) Cates.

Andrew was the kind of person who enjoyed being "on the go" whether it was working out, traveling to the beach, roller skating or shopping. He loved reading, attending festivals, especially at Legend Valley and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his fiance, April Smith; children, Leah and Hunter; mother and stepfather, Rebecca and Will Cates; father, Robert McHenry; brothers, Joe (Amber) McHenry and Trey (Shaina) McHenry; sister, Emma Cates; nephews, George, Cody, Corbin and Cameron; nieces, Joanna, Ezra and Emma; grandmother, Kate McHenry; fur-baby, Mittens; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Les McHenry; maternal grandparents, Robert and Donna Davidson; uncles, Jeremy McHenry and Scott Buehler; aunt, Sandy Buehler: niece, Taylor Rene; and cousin, Avery McHenry.

Memorial contributions may be made to Andrew's family to help them moving forward. There will be contribution envelopes available at the funeral home during services.

Drew's last meet and greet will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 12-2 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N, 21st St., Newark where a time for memory sharing will follow at 2:00 pm.
