Obituary

Audrey Viola Orr, 92 of Granville, passed away the morning of Tuesday, May 13th 2025 at her home. She was born December 5th, 1932 in Ontario Canada to the late Burvil and Viola Evelyn (English) Sparks.

Audrey grew up on the Sparks family farm in Charing Cross, Ontario with her parents and brother. After she had completed her grade school studies, Audrey moved to Royal Oak Michigan to live with her Uncle Jake, where she helped direct the vocal division of the Detroit Conservatory of Music.

From Detroit, she took to Fort Wayne Bible College to further her education. During her time at Fort Wayne, Audrey not only performed with the colleges Female Choir, but would cross paths with a fellow Fort Wayne student, Orville Orr, who would become her lifelong husband.

Audrey and Orville would eventually move back to Orville's hometown of Newark Ohio, where Audrey was a kindergarten teacher at Garfield and Jacksontown Elementary.

In 1972, after relocating to Granville, Audrey and Orville used their savings to purchase and restore the Buxton Inn. Over 42 years, the Orrs would welcome guests from across the world to dine and lodge in one of Ohios most premier historic establishments. To the public she was Mrs. Orr, but to her work colleagues and friends, she was always Mrs. O. In 2014, the Inn was sold, and Audrey began to enjoy retirement at the age of 82.

Audrey was a profound pianist and always maintained a strong faith in God. The greatest joys in her life were her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Orville O. Orr; daughters, Melanie Orr and Amy (Mike) Bentley; grandsons and best friends, Simon and Oliver Krajewski; sister-in-law, Shirley Sparks; nieces, Lori (Bill) Thompson, Lisa Sparks, Ronald (Kim) Orr and Sherri Orr; many great and great-great-nieces and nephews; and special friend and caretaker, James Muncie.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Dudley Sparks; nephew, Danny Sparks; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gladys and John Lees; and brother-in-law, Harry (Shirley Joanne) Orr, Jr.

No public services will be held at this time.
