Barbara Louise Butler, 67, of Newark, died Monday, September 2, 2024 at her home. She was born November 17, 1956 in Newark to the late Carl and Patricia (Russell) Rittenhouse.

Barb ran into friends everywhere she went and she never met an animal she didn't want to pet. She was passionate about helping animals in need and her generosity and selflessness extended to all of those she knew. Barb was an avid gamer and she never missed a chance to cheer on her Buckeyes, Guardians, and Browns.

She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Michael; children, Daphne (Chris) Blankenship, Darcy (Nathan Gordon) Heller and Anthony (Maria) Hicks; grandchildren, Allie, Joey, Casey, Jax, Eric, Tristan, Kylie and Sebastian; brother, Lenny (Kathy) Ours; sister, Kim (Jerry) Koski; many nieces, nephews, and cousins and her beloved pet companions, Merry and Pippen.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Carl Rittenhouse.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations to assist with the payment of funeral expenses be made to Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 from 4-8 pm with a time for memory sharing at 6:00 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.
