Barbara Jo Powell

A Celebration of Life for Barbara Jo Powell, 61, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 41 Wing St. Newark, OH 43055.

Barb passed away August 4, 2025, at her residence. She was born May 24, 1964, in Wheeling, WV, to the late Donald and Kathleen (Myles) Swartz.

Barb enjoyed spending time with her family and listening to music.

She is survived by her husband, George T. Powell, Sr.; children, Thomas (Shaunna) Powell, Amanda (John David Glenn/Ashton DeCaire, Samantha Stevens, Justin (Ashley) Powell, Keesha Phillips, and Beth (Andrew) Jones; sisters, Janet Riedel and Angel Murray; 15 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Swartz; sister, Charlotte Connor, and son-in-law, Roy Stevens.
