Betty Alberta Wilson, 88, of Newark, died Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born February 24, 1935 in Newark to the late Charles "Pudge" and Fern (Miller) Pettibone.

Betty retired from the food service industry after 50 years, which included State Restaurant, The Old Dagwoods Restaurant, and Newlon's Restaurant in Newark and The Clock in Avon Park, FL. She was a past member of E.A.A Chapter 402, Licking County Pilots Association and the Cherry Valley Motorcycle Club.

She is survived by her daughter, Stacy L. Rice; grandchildren, Tyler C. Messina, Tiffany A. Rice, and Kayla M. (Seth) Addy; great grandchildren, Parker A. Messina, Micah J. Addy, Ophelia M. Addy and Judah A. Addy; sisters, Charlotte L. Hoffer and Pamela Holman; and brother-in-law, Gilbert L. Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Cecil M. Wilson (11/8/2020); daughter, Wendy F. Wilson (4/26/2017); grandson, Nicholas A. Messina (6/11/2009); and sisters, Barbara Worth, Alma Dudgeon, Mary Swick, Billie Jo Wells and Paula Stimel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Betty to Care 360 Hospice, 3455 Mill Run Dr. Suite 1000, Hilliard, OH 43026.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 6, 2024 from 4-8 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home 985 N. 21st St., Newark and Wednesday from 10-11 am. The funeral service will be Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Jim Addy officiating. Burial will follow the service at Smith Chapel Cemetery.
