Betty Lou Barclay, 81, of Newark, died Thursday, May 1, 2025 at her home. She was born August 29, 1943 in Newark to the late Paul and Anna (Bebout) Rutherford.

Betty loved her family more than anything. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, trips to the casino, and soothing her sweet tooth. She was known for making the best deviled eggs and cheesecake. She was a loving wife, mom, grandma and great grandma.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Michael Barclay; son, Jeff (Tricia) Barclay; daughter-in-law, Karen Barclay; grandchildren, Dustin Barclay, Sharree Harris, Kendall Burgoon and Kara (Matthew) Moyer; eleven great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and her beloved boston terrier, Holly.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Robert Barclay; grandson-in-law, Charlie Harris; and sister, Geraldine Hummel.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Betty to the Licking County Humane Society.

Visitation will be held Monday, May 5, 2025 from 5-8 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at 10:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Marvin Haught officiating. A graveside service will follow the funeral at Newark Memorial Gardens.
