Billie Jean "BJ" Richards, 93, of Newark, died Sunday, September 29, 2024 at his home. He was born March 28, 1931 in Newark.

BJ graduated from Newark High School class of 1948. He retired from Owens Corning. He worked as a lifelong electrician and owned his own electrical company for five years. He was a member of IBEW local. BJ enjoyed woodworking, camping and had a hobby of collecting coffee cups which he collected from all over the world. Above all, He loved spending time with his family, particularly around the holidays.

He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Wilma; children, Christinea L. Tolliver, Michael J. (Debi) Richards, Scott D. (Barbara) Richards and Robin R. (David) Evans; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

BJ was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Richards Hamilton; son-in-law, John R. Tolliver; infant great grandson, Tyler Channing Richards; twin sister, Bonnie June Shrivers; and sisters, Nancy Wilson and Mary Elizabeth "Betsy" Johnson.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of BJ to Hospice of Central Ohio.

A graveside service will be held Thursday, October 3, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Newark Memorial Gardens.
