Bonnie J. Pound

A funeral service for Bonnie J. Pound, 86, of Newark, OH, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 19, 2024, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, with Pastor Bryan Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Welsh Hills Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 18, 2024, at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

Bonnie passed away July 14, 2024, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born November 14, 1937, in Newark, OH, to the late Urban and Margaret (Burkham) Darkes.

Bonnie graduated from Newark High School.  She retired from First Federal and was a member of St. Louisville United Methodist Church. Bonnie enjoyed sewing, bowling, painting, crocheting, basket weaving, gardening, she was an excellent cook, and above all she was extremely dedicated to her family.

She is survived by her husband of 68 years, Gerald L. Pound; children, Cindy Pound, Brenda (Bob) Zarker, Jeff (Cathy) Pound, Tim (Vickie) Pound, and Addie (Jerry) Staley; sister, Sandy French; 13 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Charlene Walker, and brothers, Richard Darkes and Benjamin Darkes.
