Bruce B. Penrose, 94, of Heath, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at his home. He was born February 28, 1930 in Newark to the late Forest and Faye (Berry) Penrose.

Bruce was a proud veteran of the United States Air Force where he was an Upper Turret Gunner on the B-17 Flying Fortress, and later was stationed with the 664th AC&W Squadron in Bellefountaine, Ohio as a Senior Radar Operator.  He worked at Kaiser Aluminum in Heath for 14 years, and at the Defense Construction Supply Center (DCSC) in Columbus where he finished his career. He was also a member of the American Legion and VFW.  He was devoted to his family, and enjoyed socializing with his friends and relatives on a regular basis.  He was married to the love of his life Katherine, for 51 years.  He visited her graveside everyday regardless of the weather.

He is survived by his children, Jeffrey L. (Maria) Penrose and Amy D. (Robert) Jensen; granddaughter, Jessica (Chris) Hiler; step grandchildren, Jessica Jensen and Bobbi, Brian and Brandon Turner; and great grandchildren, Katy, Brady and Justin Hiler.

He is also survived by nieces, Jana (Bill) Snedden, Jaye (Rod) Wilder, Jennifer (Mark) Hogue, and their children.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine E. Penrose; brother-in-law, John Markham; and mother and father-in-law, Harry and Rachel Markham.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bruce, to Hospice of Central Ohio.

Visitation will be held Friday, September 13, 2024 from 6-8 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark.  A private graveside service will be held locally.
