Carl William
Baker
Aug 26, 1934 — Feb 15, 2026
St. Louisville
Carl William Baker, 91, of St. Louisville, died Sunday, February 15, 2026 at Altercare Newark North. He was born August 26, 1934 in St. Louisville to the late John and Vernie (Devoll) Baker.
Carl proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1955 to 1957, carrying with him a deep sense of duty and patriotism throughout his life. After 30 years of faithful and dedicated service, he retired from Rockwell, leaving behind a legacy of hard work and commitment.
A devoted member of North Side Church of Christ, he lived out his faith through quiet leadership and steadfast service. Farming was not just his livelihood but his true passion. A lifelong farmer affectionately known by many as "The Farmer," Carl found his greatest joy working the land and spending countless hours on his beloved Oliver tractors.
He also served as President and co-owner of Baker and Sons Drilling, taking pride in building something meaningful for his family. Carl enjoyed traveling and making memories along the way, but nothing brought him more happiness than supporting his children and grandchildren. Whether cheering them on or proudly attending events at the Knox County Fair and Hartford Fair, he was always their biggest supporter.
Carl's life was marked by devotion—to his country, his faith, his work, and most of all, his family.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara; children, Bonnie (Don) McCaskey, Dan (Donna) Baker, Mike (Bonnie) Baker, Bill (Lisa) Baker and Julie (Keith) Rice; 11 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and brother, Jim (DiAnna) Baker.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Annabelle (Dale) Stradley and Betty "Lucille" Schnieder; and brother, Raymond Baker.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carl to North Side Church of Christ, 4427 Marion Rd. NE., Newark, OH 43055.
