Obituary

Carl David Kenney, age 88, of Pataskala, passed away with his family by his side on January, 24, 2025. Carl was born on November 15, 1936, in Shawnee, Ohio to the late Otis and Violet (Anguish) Kenney.

He was a graduate of Homer High School in 1954 then went on to graduate in 1960 from The Ohio State University. Carl grew up on a farm where he worked for his parents, he had worked for the Ohio Department of Agriculture. He worked at his Uncle's dealership, Kenney Chevrolet in Johnstown and owned his own Chevrolet / Buick Dealership in Norwalk. Carl also owned a Christian Book Store in Myrtle Beach. After retiring he also worked for: Rush Delivery, The Ohio State University in Columbus as a logistics driver and Dollar General. During his high school days he played basketball and was the star of the team for Homer. He grew up in the Utica area where he married Thelma (Smith) Kenney and they lived there for many years to follow. He enjoyed watching the Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. Carl lived long enough to see the Buckeye football team win the national title on January 20, 2025, this was a goal of his. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Carl loved spending time with his family and watching the great grandkids play sports, and watching his favorite movie Smokey and the Bandit.

Carl is survived by his wife/partner, Thelma Kenney, children, Tamara Robinson and Stephen (Kristin) Kenney; grandchildren, Lynley (Jason) Harris, Eric (Jordan) Robinson, Rachael Kenney, Patrick Kenney; great grandchildren, Peyton, Elliot and Knox Robinson, Parker and Kaitlyn Harris.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded ind earth by his brother, Wayne Kenney; and son-in-law, Jeff Robinson.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 31, 2025, from 11 - 1 PM, where his service will immediately follow at 1 PM with Dr. Stephen Swisher, officiating. The burial will take place in Union Grove Cemetery, Gambier, Ohio.
