Carolyn Louise (Yokel) Brandon, age 80, of Newark, passed away at her home Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was born in Evansville, IN on April 25, 1943, to the late William and Mildred (Stinson) Yokel.
Carolyn was very active in her community and church. She served as a 4-H leader, a member of the Newark First United Methodist Board of Trustees, the Chancel Guild, Stephen Ministers leader, and served in many positions for the Walk to Emmaus weekend retreats. She also volunteered for 20 years, alongside her husband Ralph, at the Henderson Settlement Mission helping to build homes for impoverished families in Southeastern Kentucky.
Carolyn is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Ralph Brandon; children, Mark E. (Susan) Brandon, and Marianne B. (Randy) Wilson; grandchildren, Phoenix, Aaron, Lexi, Samantha, Rhys, and Sophia; siblings, Steven (Linda) Yokel, Susan (John) Boyer, and Barbara (Randall) Brown.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Martha Stinson and nephew, Matthew Brown.
Visitation will be held from 1-3pm Saturday, February 24, 2024, followed by a 3pm memorial service at the First United Methodist Church, 88 N 5th, St. Newark, Ohio 43055, Pastors Barb Salyer and Rich Clark officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carolyn's memory may be made to the First United Methodist Church Mission Fund, 88 N 5th, St. Newark, Ohio 43055, or Henderson Settlement PO Box 205, Frakes, KY 40940.
