Carrie C. Ghiloni
A Mass of Christian Burial for Carrie C. Ghiloni, 102, of Newark, OH, will be held at The Church of the Blessed Sacrament, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, August 17, 2024, with Fr. Anthony Lonzo as celebrant. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Newark Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2024, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, with a Vigil service held at 8 p.m.
Carrie, a homemaker, passed away August 13, 2024, at her residence. She was born September 23, 1921, in Licking County, OH, to the late Henry Clay and Florence A. (Benner) Linton.
Carrie was a parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Church for 76 years where she served in many capacities, cleaning the church, school cafeteria, landscaping, CCD teacher, President of Altar Rosary Society, St Vincent DePaul. Also, a member of The People of God's Love Community in Columbus, Ohio and Sons of Italy. Was a Daughter of the American Revolution, The Cursillo Movement, Christian Family Movement & worked for a short time at Wilson's Garden Center.
Carrie lived life to the fullest enjoying gardening, especially raising day lilies, golf, playing cards, line dancing, was an avid reader but mostly spending time with her large family especially the bi-annual Ghiloni Family Reunions.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Myrna Ghiloni; children, Theresa (Gary) Reichley, John (Michelle) Ghiloni, James (Brenda) Ghiloni, Christopher (Patricia) Ghiloni, Monica (Thomas) Kashner, Timothy (Vicky) Ghiloni, Regina (Richard) Hinterschied, Martha (John) DeVito, Daniel (Margret) Ghiloni, Thomas "Ben" (Mia) Ghiloni, and Anthony Ghiloni; 34 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-great-grandchild.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James Ghiloni; son, Joseph Ghiloni; daughter-in-law, Carol Ghiloni; 4 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters, Martha Knerr and Mary Marlatt, and brothers, Robert and Carroll Linton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church.
The family would like to extend our thanks to mom's wonderful Hospice caregivers especially Julie, Anna, Macey, Ruth, and Brian.
