Charles Michael Smithers, age 72, of Newark passed away on October 3, 2025. Charles was born in Columbus to the late Charles Alfred and Zella (Vickers) Smithers.

He graduated from Licking Valley High School in 1971, and went on to work for R & R Pipeline until retirement. Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching football and playing cards. Most of all Charlie loved spending time with his family.

Charles is survived by his siblings, Richard (Jacqueline Morgan) Smithers, Cheryl (Kelly) Loran, Karen Smithers, Melanie Brissette; nieces and nephew, Christina, Alyse, Holly and Matthew.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Curtis Brissette.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741, or Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark Ohio 43055.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
