Christopher Scott Baumgartner (aka Bummy), 65, of Newark, OH, entered eternal life on February 1, 2024, at home. He was born in Newark, OH, on December 8, 1958, to the late Gerald Baumgartner and Margaret (Peggy) Thropp.

Chris was a 1977 Newark High School graduate. Chris retired from State Farm Insurance after 41 years' service. Chris was a member of the Newark Moose Lodge. Chris enjoyed golf, hunting, boating on Buckeye Lake, and Ohio State Buckeye sports. He relished in spending time with his granddaughter. Chris will be remembered as the life of the party, silly and just the fun guy to hangout with.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Lana Baumgartner; daughter Lea (Travis) Lindner of Newark; granddaughter Scarlet Mae Lindner; father-in-law Michael Helphrey of Kent, OH; mother-in-law Neva Baumgartner, brother Todd (Darcey) Baumgartner of Heath, OH; step-sisters, Tracy Harris of Newark, OH, and Wendy (Harlan) Parrett of Newark, OH; sisters-in-law Karen (Howard) Cousino of Bayview, OH, Deena (Jim) Robinson of Newark, OH, and brother-in-law John Thompson II of Venice, FL; nephew Trey Robinson, and nieces Katie Thompson and Riley Robinson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law John and Leona Thompson; grandparents James and Marie Reese and nephew Chadd Cousino.

Calling hours will be held from 4-8pm on Monday, February 5, 2024 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Funeral service will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home with Pastor Scott Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
