Obituary

Rev. Clifford Church, age 89, of Newark, passed away on June 24, 2025. Clifford was born on June 15, 1936, in Williamsport, Ohio, to the late Grady and Lora (Cotton) Church.

He enjoyed building, woodworking and using the stump grinder. Clifford was a pillar of faith and love, he left an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals through his 25 years of dedicated ministry. For 70 years of marriage, he shared a love-filled journey with his devoted wife,  Ruby. Raising 5 children, building a foundation of devotion, compassion, and service that inspired all who knew them. A man of strong faith and rich tradition, Rev. Clifford Church found joy in the simple things – his family, bluegrass music, and serving his community. After a fulfilling career with American Electric Power (AEP), where he retired from, he also dedicated his years to spreading the Word of God, bringing hope, comfort, and joy to all who listened. Through his sermons, guidance, and unwavering commitment, He brought people together, inspiring a deeper connection with their faith and with each other. His legacy of faith, love, and kindness will continue to inspire future generations.

Survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Ruby Church; children, Connie Cunningham, Cathy (Danny) Reber, Diane (Bobby) Mossman, Gene (Tina) Church & 7 siblings; grandchildren, Jeanette (John)  Anderson, Jeremy Cunningham, Laura Cunningham, Shauna Robinson, Ruby (Jackie) Davis, Aaron (Jessica) William, Brett Church, Brittany (Estel) Martin, and 2 special granddaughters, Amber (Jerick) George, Amanda (Mike) Burney; 3 people near and dear to his heart, Danny Reber, Nicholas Cunningham, Bobby Mossman.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah Church; grandson, Thurman Farmer, 2 brothers and 1 sister.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 PM at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, where his service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, at 2 PM, with Pastor Bill Estep and Pastor Jim Estep officiating. Burial will take place in Hanover Cemetery.
