Connie Ann (Aitken) Bishop, age 80, of Newark, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. Connie was born on September 27, 1943, in Wheeling, WV to the late Clifford and Constance (Longstaff) Aitken.
She was a wonderful wife and mother who was always there for her family and friends when they needed her. Connie continued to give even after her passing as she was an organ donor. She graduated from Brilliant High School class of 1961. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. Connie enjoyed playing cards, reading, traveling, and crossword puzzles and especially loved family beach trips. She retired from St. Francis De Sales Church.
Connie is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Rod Bishop; children, Vicki McCoy and Steve (Sue Schlairet) Bishop; grandchildren, Ashlee Dials, Hunter McCoy and Haven McCoy; sister-in-law, JoAnn Aitken, brother-in-law, Terry (Jeanne) Bishop; nieces and nephews, Deborah (W. Daniel) Anderson, Rebecca (Craig) Constantine, Charles (Linda) Aitken Jr., Kellie Bishop, Shellie Bishop and Scott (Bernice) Hayes; many cousins, and lifetime friend, Bessie Hammond.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Charles Aitken Sr.; sister, Carolyn Jane Aitken; and nephew, Jerry Hayes.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, from 9 - 11 AM at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, where her service will follow at 11 AM with Pastor Wes Humble officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Cedar Hill Cemetery.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the staff at Riverside Methodist Hospital for all of their love and care.
