Cynthia Sue Butler

Cynthia Sue Butler, age 72, of Newark, passed away on June 10, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on May 9, 1954, in Newark, to the late Gerald Richard and Carolyn Louise (Pinkerton) Allen.

She dedicated more than 40 years of service to Denison University, where she formed many lifelong friendships and found great joy volunteering at the campus daycare. She loved spending time outdoors and especially enjoyed boating, swimming, and embracing nature. Her kind and caring spirit drew her naturally to children, and she cherished every opportunity to be around them. Above all else, she treasured time spent with her family, whose love and companionship were the greatest blessings of her life. Above all, her boys were the center of her world. She devoted her life to raising them with love, guidance, and unwavering support, always putting their needs before her own. She was their biggest cheerleader, greatest source of encouragement, and a constant presence in their lives. Being their mother was her proudest and most treasured role.

Cynthia is survived by her children, Jerod (Angela) Butler, Justin (Jill) Butler; grandchildren, Kelsey (Kaleb) Butler, Shelby Butler, Kody Butler, Kenzley Butler; great grandchild, Grayson Epling; siblings, Robert “Bunky” (Tess) Allen, Emma (Jim) Smith, Carol “Diane” Schumaker.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her partner, Jimmie Butler; siblings, William “Porky” Allen and Paula Allen; brother-in-law, Kenny Schumaker.

The family will receive friends on June 18, 2026, from 1 - 2 pm at the Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, where her Celebration of Life will follow at 2 pm with Pastor David Pennington officiating.
