Darlene Y. Carr
A funeral service for Darlene Y. Carr, 72, of Newark, OH, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Church of God at God's Acres, with Pastor Roger Decker officiating along with Michael Wilks assisting. Burial will follow at Barnes Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Church, 675 N. Cedar St. Newark, OH.
Darlene passed away January 8, 2024, surrounded by her family, at the Selma Markowitz Hospice Care Center. She was born September 12, 1951, in Newark, OH, to Charlotte (Beesler) Ogle and the late Nial Ogle.
Darlene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, with her entire life being dedicated to God and family. Darlene was a member of the Church of God at God's Acres, where she dedicated her time as a choir member for 59 years, Sunday School teacher for 37 years, story hour teacher for approximately 30 years, and started The Clothes Closet for the past 10 years at the church. She was a former owner of Carr's Pizza and D and J Cleaning.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband of 49 years, James E. Carr; children, J.C. (Leigh Ann) Carr, Rex (Mark) Carr, Raymie (Lynnette) Carr, Jeff (Terina) Carr, and Jaylene Sesher; brother, Terry (Sue) Ogle and Larry (Mary) Ogle; grandchildren, Mariah (Miguel) Mendoza, Makayla, Marshall, Mary, Tristan, Miranda, Kurt, Colton, Corbin, Maddie, Nial, Bentley, and Peyton Carr; Jessaleigh Sesher, and Jennalynn Sesher; sisters-in-law, Diane Murphy and Velva (Grady) Varney; brothers-in-law, Danny (Mary) Carr and Randall (Debra) Carr, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lee Denver and Norene Carr; son-in-law, Brandon Sesher, and brothers-in-law, Terrance Carr and Bud Murphy.
