David Michael Colburn age 71, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Newark Ohio to the late Betty and John Colburn. He graduated from Newark High School in 1973. He was always a dedicated hard worker. He worked at Holophane in Newark for 35 years, Ariel Corporation in Mt. Vernon for 5 years then retired to watch his grandson Braxton. For the last 3 years he worked for McDonalds in Heath which he loved. David was also an assistant pastor for Bellevue Lighthouse Church.
David loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandkids. He loved to go fishing, enjoyed attending sports events, loved Cleveland Browns and Ohio State Buckeyes. He played Santa for Christmas Parties. He had a love of baseball he played until he couldn't anymore then enjoyed coaching, umpiring and attending games at Mound City where he was known as "Pappy". He also enjoyed visiting at McDonalds with special friends John and Betty.
David is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Marsha Colburn, Children Anthony (Vanessa) Colburn of Leavittsburg, Ashley (Gary) McCormick of Newark, Grandchildren Kirkland, Mason, Aubree, Alivia, Braxton and Aaliyah. Siblings: Janet (Bob) Anderson, Paul (Justina) Wilson, Jeff (Becky) Wilson, Many Nieces and Nephews and great Nieces and great Nephews and many friends. (He didn't know a stranger).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Son Aaron Colburn. Siblings Terry Willson and Debra Colburn and Nephew Terry Wilson Jr.
The Family would like to Thank Mt. Carmel East for the wonderful care they provided.
The family will receive friends from 2-4pm on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Funeral service will follow at 4pm with Pastor Jeff Wilson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ronald McDonald House. Always remember to be kind.
