Obituary

Debra Kaye Colburn age 65 of Newark Ohio passed away on Friday October 11,2024, peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a short battle with Glioblastoma. She was born in Newark Ohio to the late Betty and John Colburn. She graduated from Newark High School in 1977. Deb graduated from Steven Henager College in 1984 with an Associate of Business Science Degree in Medical Assisting and Medical Transcription. She then became a nanny to a loving family and then she went on to nursing school at George Mason University in Virginia, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. She worked for many years as a registered nurse for Licking Memorial Health Systems and she later semi-retired and worked as a home health companion for Home Instead. Debbie was a valued member at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Granville, where she also enjoyed teaching Sunday school. She loved gardening, crafting, playing games, and spending time with her family and friends.

Deb is survived by her siblings; Janet (Bob) Anderson, Paul (Justina) Wilson, David (Marsha) Colburn, Jeff (Becky) Wilson. Several nieces and nephews; Deanna, Sarah, Lisa, Shelly, Anthony, Ashley, Reba, Tina, Terry Lee, Jason and Janelle. Many great nieces and nephews and her special dog Lilly. She also will be greatly missed by her special friends that were family Ron and Francis Batten and family, Beth Anne, Lorie, Ane, Pat and dear friend Scott.

She was preceded in death by  her parents John and Betty Colburn, Brother Terry Wilson, Nephews Aaron Colburn and Terry Lee Wilson Jr. The family would like to thank Hospice of Central Ohio for the care they provided.

The family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St, Newark. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery.

In Lieu of Flowers contributions can be made to Hospice of Central Ohio or The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Granville Ohio.
