Debra Sue Hurley

A memorial service for Debra Sue Hurley, 67, of Heath, OH, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 12, 2026, at Jacksontown Road Church of God located at 6445 Jacksontown Rd. Newark OH 43056.

Debra passed away August 27, 2026, at Licking Memorial Hospital. She was born October 11, 1958, in Newark, OH, to Mary Louise (Seaton) Wright and the late Jack Duane Wright.

Debra lived most of her life in Newark, Ohio, where she made many memories and touched the lives of those around her. She attended Newark High School and Licking County Joint Vocational School and later obtained her GED. Throughout her life, Debra worked various jobs and also spent shorter periods living in North Carolina, Arizona, and Florida.

Debra was a woman who found joy in the simple things. She was an excellent cook and loved finding a good bargain. Whether it was a great deal or something marked down on clearance, she could always find it.

Above all, Debra adored her granddaughter, Logan, and her great-grandson, Calvin. The love she shared with them was especially meaningful, and she will be deeply missed by Logan, Calvin, and all who knew and loved her.

Debra leaves behind memories that will be cherished forever, especially by those closest to her. Her love, laughter, cooking, and knack for finding the best bargains will be remembered with fondness for years to come.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by her sister, Kimberly (Dan) Metheny; children, James R. Hurley and Jennifer (Mike) Robinson; grandchildren, Logan (Kirby) Phillips, Chalynn Hurley, Jared Robinson, Ava Robinson, and Jaica Smith; great grandson, Calvin Phillips, and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her son, John Hurley (Jaica’s father), and sister, Tamra Wright.
