Delores Ann (Freeman) Mowery, age 86, of Newark, passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital Tuesday, July 7, 2026. She was born in Newark on December 23, 1939, as a twin girl, with a sister named Darlene Freeman, to the late Archie and Delores (York) Freeman.

The twins graduated from Newark Senior High in 1958. Soon after they enlisted in the Navy together as "Navy Waves."

Delores was a member of the Truth Tabernacle in Fredonia. She founded, as Queen, a Red Hats group known as the "Forever Friends." Delores loved to rescue animals to keep, care for, and love.

She is survived by her twin sister, Darlene (Freeman) Ratliff; two children, Laura Robinson (Danny) Campbell and Edward S. (Cheryl) Faynter, Sr.; 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Mowery.
