Dennis William "Denny" Gray was born in Newark, Oh to the late Jack William and Betty Jane (Whissen) Gray on June 26, 1953. He passed with his family by his side on August 2, 2024.

Dennis was a 1971 Graduate of Newark High School, and a United States Naval Veteran.

He made his living in the construction field building homes with Hannahs Builders and Morrison Builders. He later took a job with the Boy Scouts of America as the Ranger of Camp Falling Rock where he was known as Ranger Denny and proudly worked the job for 25 years until his retirement. He took pride in his work and would do anything to help a Scout learn something new while at camp. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 631, earned the Vigil rank with the Order of the Arrow, and was a Charter member of the Licking Valley FFA. He was a member of the Rocky Fork Church of Christ.

Denny is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon K. (Hardin) Gray, who he married on May 1, 1977, his son Zachery C. Gray, his sister and brother-in-law Debra and Jim Clary, his brother, Kenneth Gray, four nieces, one nephew and one great niece and two great nephews. He will be missed by his good friends Carol and Earl O'Bannon with whom he enjoyed lunches and conversation, as well as his friends from Scouting, Scott Burgy, Bill Hunter, Matt Stickle, his logger buddy Ryan Baldridge, and the volunteers of the Properties Committee of Camp Falling Rock.

Preceding him along with his parents are his Grandparents J Carl and Edna Whissen as well as his sister Sandra Paul, Aunt and Uncle Barbara and Gene Whissen and his best friend since 2nd grade Craig (Tootsie) Derringer who passed exactly four months ago on April 2. 2024.

He will be sorely missed by his fur babies, Ciara, Maddie, Oreo and Lily who have been missing him thru this ordeal.

Calling hours will Tuesday August 13, from 2 PM to 6 PM at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home with a memorial service immediately following with Pastor Cory Campbell officiating.
