Donald Drew Byers, age 78, passed away on January 15, surrounded by his family. He was born on April 7, 1945, to the late William Roy and Mary Margaret (Thompson) Byers in Trimble, Ohio.

In April of 1963, he married the love of his life, Judy Ramsey. They have been married for nearly 61 years and he was so proud to share that with everyone.  They spent all of their time together and shared an incredible bond. Soon after marriage, Don joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany and New York. Once he left the Army, Don worked 7 days a week, often 2 - 3 jobs at one time to provide for his family.  His numerous jobs included Wonder Bread, PPG, UPS and Roadway.  In 1982, he started his own business and owned and operated Don Byers Steam Cleaning and Don Byers Oil and Gas.  He enjoyed swapping stories with his friends at Fallsburg Supply store. Don was a member of the Newark Elks Lodge #391, Moose International, American Legion Post 85.

Don was best known for how much he loved his family. He genuinely enjoyed helping others and spent his entire life trying to do so. His greatest joy in life was watching and supporting his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved supporting and cheering them on at all of their activities, and his favorite time of the year was when all the family was able to get together during Christmas where he participated in fun family games. He was so proud of each and every one of them. Don had a great sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Holidays and family get togethers will not be the same without him. Outside of his family, Don was a well-known member of his community. He rarely met a stranger and extended his willingness to help others to all of his friends and colleagues. Don loved sharing stories about his childhood and had many fond memories of growing up in Glouster, Ohio. He grew up learning about the importance of family which he took with him throughout his life.

He will be dearly missed, but we know there is a special place in Heaven waiting for him with his beloved English bullogs, Bella and Theo.

He is survived by his loving wife, Judy; children, Sherry Yoakam-Seiffert, Shelley Kimball, and Stephanie (RG) Peterson; grandchildren, Bob (Allie) Yoakam, Don Yoakam, Anthony Selby, Adam Selby, Malia Peterson (Hunter Orth), Jack Peterson, Jake Peterson, and AJ Peterson; great grandchildren, Hailey Selby, Liley Selby, Colton Selby and Kaden Yoakam; sisters, Yvonne Keith, Patricia Johnson, Debbie (Rick) Little; special sister-in-law, Betty Mathias; step grandchildren, Rachel (Travis) Jackson, Natalie (Ben) Siefert, Michelle (Henri) Beaudoin; step great grandchildren, Cameron and Riley Jackson, Benji, Maclyn, and Isaac Siefert; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Michael Byers; sister, Pansy Lee Browning; and brother-in-law, Rick Johnson.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 21, 2024, from 2 - 4 PM at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, where his service will immediately follow at 4 pm with Pastor David Linn officiating. Burial will take place in Maplewood Cemetery at a later time.
