Dottie Irene Richards, 96 of Newark passed away on September 9, 2024 at Altercare Newark South. She was born on April 24, 1928 in Martinsburg, OH to the late Fred and Beatrice (Ryan) Peters.

Dottie was a member of Northside Church of Christ. She was a former cook at McClain's Restaurant in Newark. She enjoyed baking, cooking, canning and crocheting.

She is survived by her son, Edward (Linda) Richards; granddaughter, Elizabeth (Zechariah) Thompson; great-grandson, Zander Thompson; sister, Carolyn Williams; sister-in-law, Marilyn Peters; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Richards; brothers, Joe Peters, Kenny Peters and Paul Peters; and sisters, May Priest, Lucille Coss and Betty Jatczak.

The family will receive friends from 11-1pm on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Funeral service will follow at 1pm with Pastor Ben McKinstry officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
