Dr. John Marshall White, Jr.

Dr. John Marshall White, Jr., 67, of Granville, OH, went home to be with his Lord, September 29, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born January 13, 1959, in New York City, to the late John M. White, Sr. and late Catherine (Patterson) White.

Marshall’s family moved to Hickory PA at age 10 where he grew up in the family homestead built by his great grandparents. He graduated from Fort Cherry HS. He then attended Washington and Jefferson College where he was president of his fraternity Delta Tau Delta, and then the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine.

Upon graduation he started his dental practice in Hickory. In 1991 he moved to Granville, OH where he practiced at multiple locations including many years at his own office, eventually retiring as a Faculty Attending at Cleveland Dental Institute at Mt. Carmel East. He was a very meticulous craftsman and artist when it came to dentistry. Marshall had many loyal patients over the years who would only see him for dental work, some travelling hundreds of miles.

In Granville he met the love of his life Jennifer Ormond and were married in 1993. In good times and in bad, in sickness and in health… their love for each other never wavered. They built a beautiful life raising three wonderful sons. Marshall was especially proud of the young men they have become, John M. White, III of Toronto, Geoffrey White of Granville OH, and Ian White of Columbus OH.

Also surviving are brother James (Peggy) D. White II of Apollo Beach, FL, parents-in-law Dr. Alexander and Kathleen Ormond of Akron OH, and brother-in-law Dr. Alexander Ormond, III of Akron OH, and close cousin R. Reed White Jr. of McLean VA. Also, many beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. Marshall would never miss an opportunity to gather with his large extended families whom he deeply loved.

Over the years Marshall had many pets whom he enjoyed and brought him great joy and comfort.

In Hickory he was an elder at Hickory United Presbyterian Church. He was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church of Granville, past President of the Hickory Lions Club and past member of George Washington Chapter of Sons of American Revolution.

The family would like to especially thank the doctors and all staff at Licking Memorial Hospital as well as The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center for all their wonderful care they provided to our precious Marshall.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to Licking County Humane Society.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Heath Church of Christ with chaplain Dave Mason officiating. Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church, 1331 Chapel Way, Heath, OH 43056.
