Drason Matthew Sillin

Drason Matthew Sillin, age 46, of Newark, passed away peacefully into the arms of the Lord on April 28, 2026. He was born on October 24, 1979, in Newark, Ohio.

He was a loving father, son, brother, friend and companion. Drason dedicated his life to serving others through public service, teaching, coaching, and volunteer work, both in the homeschooling community and the greater central Ohio area. He was a member of Cornerstone Church, and a two-time graduate from Franklin University with a Bachelors in Science and Business Administration, and a Master’s in Public Administration. Drason worked in public safety and taught safety courses and served as a board moderator for Excellence in Learning co-op from 2011-2024.

Drason is survived by his sons, Macguines Sillin, Marshal (Hannah) Sillin, Mason (Emma) Sillin; granddaughter, Avora Sillin; former-wife, Amanda Grace Sillin; mother, Marsha Diane (David) Palmer siblings, Dakneeka (Michael) Palmer, Christina (Wayne) Lupher, Charlotte Dearing, Wind Dearing; grandmother, Mary Jullian; former in-laws, Jack (Patricia) Johnson; former brother-in-law, Andrew (Shawndra) Johnson; former sisters-in-law, Kimberly (Tyler) Waldren, Laurinda Johnson; nieces and nephews, Legacee and Phoenix Clark; Makanna, Kendall, Khloe and James Johnson, Sydney Waldren, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Dearing; grandparents, Lawrence J. and Ceetta Mae Sillin, James and Margeret Keen.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 1-3 and 6-8 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, where his service will be held on Thursday, May 7, at 2 pm, with Pastor Wally McLaughlin officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens.
