Ed Cooperrider, age 84, of Marne, was released from his battle with Parkinson's Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at his home. He was born in Newark, Ohio on June 18, 1942, to the late Lloyd and Oma (Kelley) Cooperrider.

Every attack of Parkinson’s was met with bravery, dignity, and strength. He used creative ways to complete his day-to-day tasks, such as attaching a belt to a laundry basket so he could pull his laundry to the machine. Parkinson’s kept stealing from Ed, but he kept fighting back. He was an inspiration to all who loved him.

He was part of the last graduating class of Glenford High School. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Marne where he was an usher for many years. The outdoors was his passion and with the help of his son he was able to hunt well into his Parkinson’s journey.

He was deeply devoted to his family and friends and had a giving, generous heart. Ed was a true servant and was there whenever there was a need. He also spent a lot of time supporting his grandchildren at sporting events, cheer, dance, choir, and drama.

He is survived by his children, Chad (Jennifer) Cooperrider, Michelle (Dick) Kreager, and “bonus son” Allen Richards; grandchildren, Cory (Gabby) Cooperrider, Katie Cooperrider, Eddy Kreager; siblings, Donald (Pat) Cooperrider, Eva Mae (Tom) Crosby, and William (Susan) Cooperrider.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Ruth (Simpkins) Cooperrider.

Visitation will take place from 5pm-7pm Monday, August 10, and 11am-12pm Tuesday, August 11, 2026, followed by a 12pm funeral service at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st St, Newark, Ohio 43055. A graveside service Hanover Cemetery will take place immediately after the funeral service, Pastor Shyanne Manson officiating.
