Edward Elliot Gerber, age 84, died July 17, 2025 at home in Newark, OH surrounded by loving family, after a lengthy battle with dementia. He was born March 16, 1941, in Sugarcreek, OH and was preceded in death by parents Edward and Marion (Wisseman) Gerber, brother Noel, twin sister Diane Eigsti Gerber, and sisters-in-law Kathleen Pruzinsky and Catherine Pruzinsky. He graduated from Waynedale High School in Apple Creek, OH in 1959 and from the Respiratory Therapy Program at Yale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT in 1965. He retired as a Respiratory Therapist from Licking Memorial Hospital in 2003 after 31 years of service.

He is survived by his wife Barbara (Pruzinsky) Gerber of 56 years; children Nicole (Michael) Geithmann, Kimberly Gerber, Mark Gerber, and Jennifer (Christopher) Welsh; grandchildren Sarah and Conner Geithmann, and Allison and Jacob Welsh; siblings Stephen Gerber, John Gerber, Elaine Nand, and their spouses.

Elliot enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, and following Ohio sports. He was a devoted family man, had a smile for everyone, and will be remembered for his legacy of love.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 22 from 10 am – 12 pm at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home at 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, OH with funeral services immediately following at 12:00 pm, led by Chaplain Brian Humphreys. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Licking Memorial Health Foundation, 1320 West Main St., Newark, OH 43055 and Hospice of Central Ohio at 2269 Cherry Valley Road, Newark, OH 43055.

Elliot's family extends eternal gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Central Ohio, especially to Kelly, Megan, and Valerie, for the exceptional care provided to Elliot during the past three years.
