Edward L. Williams, 81 of Newark passed away on August 12, 2026 at his residence. He was born on September 23, 1944 in Ironton, OH to the late Edward L. and Alta Ruth (Bowman) Williams.
Edward served honorably in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He went on a two year church mission trip to the New England States in the late 60’s. He furthered his education, graduating from The Ohio State University and Franklin University. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
On June 23, 1972, Edward married the love of his life, Vivian Gilliam. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and love.
Edward had many interests and talents. He enjoyed woodworking, photography, art, genealogy, and studying Scripture. He was a man of faith whose devotion to God was reflected in the way he lived his life. Above all, Edward’s greatest devotion was to his family and to God.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Vivian (Gilliam) Williams; children, Michelle (Brad) Martyn, Rebecca (Skip) Walter, Seth (Kristen) Williams and David (Erin) Williams; 16 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Janice (Werner) Mueller; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Linda Maute and Ida Strong.
The family will receive friends from 3-5pm on Sunday, August 16, 2026 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, August 17, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2486 Newark Granville Rd., Newark. Burial will follow at Wilson Cemetery.
