Edwin Neal Forgey Jr., 82, of Hebron, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, surrounded by his family's love.
Born April 11, 1944, in Lebanon, Missouri, Ed was the son of the late Edwin Neal Forgey Sr. and Clare Forgey. He graduated from Baumholder American High School in Germany and proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Throughout his professional career, Ed worked as a journeyman electrician, including many years with Owens Corning in Newark, Ohio. He later continued his career at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory in California, from which he retired.
Ed shared 59 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Laura. Together, they built a life centered around family, raising their children and creating memories that would carry through generations.
A man of varied interests and a lifelong sense of curiosity, Ed earned his private pilot's license and enjoyed recreational flying. He also had a special appreciation for nature and found great joy in visiting The Dawes Arboretum in Newark, Ohio.
Above all, Ed's legacy lives on through the family he leaves behind. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Laura; daughters, Crissy Forgey and Cyndi Forgey Rottmann; grandchildren, Brittany (Jake), Lily (Ray), Dane, Collin, and Kara; and his cherished great-grandchildren, Jaydin, Carlee, Jason, and Jamie. He is also survived by his siblings, Marsha Hopeck, Jim Forgey, Loretta Freeland, Mary (Jim) McNulty, and Carol (Mark) Wachter, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and loved ones.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin Neal Forgey Sr. and Clare Forgey; brother, Steve Forgey; son, Brian Forgey; grandson, Christian Forgey; and great-grandson, Jace Fincato.
Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Thursday, October 8, from 3:00–6:00 p.m. at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home in Newark, Ohio, to remember Ed and celebrate his life.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made in Ed's name to The Dawes Arboretum, a place he greatly enjoyed and held dear.
