Elza “Elzie” E. Maynard

A funeral service for Elza “Elzie” E. Maynard, 66, of Newark, OH, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2026, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday prior to the service at the funeral home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark, OH.

Elzie passed away July 28, 2026, at RiverVista Hospital. He was born November 16, 1959, in Holden, WV, to the late Elza and Jean (Vance) Maynard.

Elzie proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, the United States Air Force, and served as a Merchant Marine. He dedicated more than 40 years of his career as a truck driver, where his strong work ethic and commitment were evident to all who knew him. Above all, Elzie cherished spending time with his family, creating lasting memories and enjoying the moments they shared together. He will be remembered for his service, dedication, and the love he had for those closest to him.

He is survived by his brother, Phillip Maynard; nieces, Kaitlyn Wovrosh, Krista Richards, Kendyl Richards, Kensley Davis, and Natalie Davis; nephews, Jeff Myers, Aron McLean, and Eric Davis; great nieces, Morgan Bentley, Madison Bentley, and Piper Richards, and great nephew, Evan Wovrosh.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Saundra “Sonni” Piper, and sister, Brenda Roberts.
