Frederick Thomas Linton
Fred was born in Newark, Ohio on February 18, 1949 and went to be Lord on November 4, 2026 at age 77. He was happily married for 55 years to his high school sweetheart, Debbie (Bebout) Linton.
Fred graduated from Newark High School in 1968 and proudly served in the US Navy as a boatswain’s mate from 1968-1972 on the USS Vogelgesang (DD-862). Fred worked as a pipefitter and in multi-craft at Owens Corning, retiring from there after 30 years of service. He gave his life to the Lord at age 40 and faithfully served his community in many ways, being particularly gifted in building and helping with innumerable repairs for friends, family, and strangers. Fred connected strongly with his family roots by maintaining a multi-generational farming legacy on his family’s farm - a legacy that his own family continue to this day on that same soil. His hospitality was apparent to all who knew him, as he opened his home to friends, family, and strangers from around the world. His passion for building projects continued into his retirement as he and his wife remodeled their family cottage on Lake Erie to enjoy in their later years.
Fred left a lasting legacy for his surviving family, including his wife, Debbie and their four children, Paula Lint, Mona (Eric) Large, Mark (Jenna) Linton, Blair (Robert) Phillips, as well as their 14 grandchildren, Emily (Austin) Dupler, Adam Lint, Trent Lint, Laura Lint, Trevor (Kristy) Large, Caleb Large, Joshua (Sage) Large, Lydia (Jacob) Milenovic, Seth Linton, Anna Linton, Lia Linton, Hali Linton, Kiley Phillips, Wesley Phillips, and great-grandson Jettson Dupler, and great-granddaughter baby Large expected in December.
Fred loved his siblings Cynthia Linton, Sheila Linton, Camilla Linton, his sister-in-law Debbie Linton, as well as his nieces and nephews and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his brother Rodger Linton and his parents Carroll and Leomae (Thomas) Linton.
Debbie has been blessed by the outpouring of love and support from her family and friends, as well as Hospice during this time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Faith Outpost Church in Utica, Ohio or Central Ohio Hospice.
Fred will be buried with military honors at Newark Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, November 10 at 11:00 AM. Calling hours will be at Brucker & Kishler Funeral home in Newark, OH on Sunday, November 8 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM where the funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM.
