Gary Michael Dye, 64, of Newark, died Wednesday, April 15, 2026 at his home. He was born October 14, 1961 in Newark to the late Andrew and Betty (Hicks) Dye.
Gary proudly served his country in the United States Army, retiring with the rank of Sergeant. A skilled craftsman, he had a true talent for woodworking and could build nearly anything he set his mind to. In his younger years, he was an avid motocross racer and he won several awards. He had a deep appreciation for music and was an accomplished drummer. Gary also enjoyed photography, British comedy, assembling detailed model military aircraft, and spending time riding his bike. He took great pride in caring for his fish and maintaining his aquarium, a hobby that brought him much peace and enjoyment.
He is survived by his wife of 13 years, Melody; son, Todd (Kate) Dye; grandchildren, Emmah, Negan and Morrigan Dye; sisters, Sandy (Jeff) Rogers and Teresa (Joel) Craig; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Chirstopher Dye.
Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Gary to any military organization of donors choice.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 20, 2026 from 11-1 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor Roger Cummings officiating. Burial will follow the service at Spring Grove Cemetery where military honors will be presented by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
