Gregory C Abrams

October 3, 1959 –July 24, 2026

Greg was born in Zanesville Ohio somewhere in the middle of 7 siblings. This is probably what prepared him for survival and definitely the most fitting situation for someone who preferred to observe people before voicing his opinions. He certainly had plenty of opinions to voice once he got going. Greg spent his almost 67 years making people laugh with his stories, perfectly timed sarcasm and jokes that he would happily tell you over and over again.

Greg proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Point Loma. He received an honorable discharge following a near fatal car accident in 1985, just three days after his 25th birthday. After nearly a year of recovery, countless surgeries and losing three inches of his leg, a lift was added to his shoe and his friends lovingly referred to Greg as “Foot”.

Greg never let his circumstances define him, though they undeniably shaped him. He quietly carried the physical reminders of that day for the rest of life. He walked with a shoe lift and 3 years ago lost part of his leg and got a prosthetic. Yet those who knew him best also knew his incredible resilience. He had a wonderfully dry, sarcastic sense of humor that could catch you off guard. He wasn’t the loudest person in the room but when he spoke, people listened-and usually laughed. He was a master storyteller, finding humor in everyday life and somehow making ordinary details memorable. In more recent years he found plenty of amusement in stirring the pot on Facebook, where he delighted in keeping everyone on their toes. His love language was sarcasm and teasing, so if you were ever on the receiving end of either, he probably liked you.

Greg was an avid bowler and a fierce competitor locally and regionally. Behind his wit was an incredibly gentle heart. He loved animals, especially dogs and had a soft spot for anyone or anything that needed a little extra kindness. He had a lifelong love of music, Pink Floyd in particular, Ford trucks, hot rods and spending time with his siblings. He supported his family in all their endeavors and was a favorite Uncle to all his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Billie Abrams and a sister Sharon Richter. 

He is survived by a sister, Taffie Abrams and brothers; Jeff, Fred, Mike and Mark Abrams.
