Gregory Wilson Brooks

A visitation for Gregory Wilson Brooks, 66, of Newark, OH, will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St. Newark.

Greg passed away July 30, 2026, at Licking Memorial Hospital. He was born September 24, 1959, in Newark, OH, to the late Gary and Linda (Blade) Brooks.

Greg worked as a dispatcher for Jay's Towing. Outside of work, he had a passion for riding motorcycles, He was a naturally athletic man who enjoyed playing football, softball, throwing darts, and pool tournaments.

Greg had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room. He valued the relationships he built throughout his life and was fiercely loyal to those he loved. Above all, Greg was a true original. He was a member of his own club by marching to the beat of his own drum, living life on his own terms with confidence, authenticity, and an independent spirit that those who knew him will never forget.

He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie (Robert Jewell) Brooks and Nacole Winters; girlfriend, Jackie Garey; grandchildren, Makayla (Natalah) Cabiness, Nathan Phillips, and Lauren Brooks; great-grandchildren, Amyrah, Aven, and Tiona; nephew, Tyler Brooks; step-children, Shannon Harvey, Crystal (Dave) Smith, Larry Garey, Montana Garey, and Christopher Garey; step-sisters, Mindy (Mike) Taggart and Dena (Mark) Walsh, and several step-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-parents, Jim and Nadine Riggs; infant son, Gregory Michael Brooks; brother, Gary Allen Brooks, and step-sister, Beth Riggs.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Greg to Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
