Harold Alan Gilkeson, 65, of Newark, died Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born April 1, 1959 in Chillicothe, OH to the late Lacy and Bonnie (Neal) Gilkeson.
Harold worked as a truck driver for many years and it was a job that he really enjoyed. He was a well known musician playing in various bands in the local and Chillicothe area playing drums and singing. He loved to experiment with new recipes in the kitchen with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Sharon Gilkeson; step-sons, Andrew Long and Christopher (Terri) Long; sisters, Jeanie (Darrell) Brintlinger; nephews, Chad (Heather) Mills, Robert (Amy) Rodeheaver, Michael (Berea) Rodeheaver, Eric and Brent Geiger and Sean and Kyle Murrey; nieces, Heather Gilkeson, Cynthia (Chris) Gibson, Lori (Mike) Slivanya and Amy (Jason) Sanders; many great nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Mari Geiger, Trudy (Steve) Murrey and Connie Rodeheaver; brothers-in-law, Randy (Carrie) Geiger and Rick Geiger; lifelong best friends, Jay Hughes and Tony Cottrill; and his beloved dogs, Tucker and Autumn.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Gilkeson.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 1:00-3:00 pm at the Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark where the funeral service will follow at 3:00 pm with Pastor Cheryl Simpson officiating.
