A devoted servant of the Lord, Helen M. Henry, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Thursday, July 31, 2025, having lived a life defined by unwavering faith, compassion, and service. She was born July 15, 1940 in Newark to the late Frank and Blanche (Dickerson) Dumm.

A lifelong member of the Church of God at God's Acres, her love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life. At just 15 years old, she answered the call to teach and began her remarkable 66-year journey as a Sunday School teacher, touching countless young hearts with God's word. She also served faithfully in the Sunday School Bus Ministry, ensuring children had the opportunity to experience the love of Christ.

Blessed with a beautiful voice, she lifted it in praise as a member of the church choir for nearly 70 years. Her gift for music extended beyond the pews—she sang regularly during services and recorded four gospel records, sharing her message of hope and salvation through song.

Her home was a haven of love and grace. As a foster mother through the NYAP (National Youth Advocate Program), she opened her heart and home to several children, nurturing them with the same faith and kindness she gave so freely to all.

Her life revolved around her faith, her church, and the calling God placed upon her. She was a living example of Christ's love—a steadfast disciple, a compassionate mentor, and a beacon of joy and purpose.

Though she has gone on to her eternal reward, her legacy will live on in the many lives she touched through her words, music, and enduring acts of service.

She is survived by her children, Letitia L. Cooper and Damon J. (Lori) Henry; grandchildren, McKenzie (Brevan), Mallory (Brandon) and Heath (Tiffany); five great grandchildren; sister, Eileen (Tom) Paishon; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James R. Henry; brothers, Charles and Joseph Dumm; and sister, Cyndi Johnston.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-7:00 pm at the Church of God at God's Acres, 675 N. Cedar St., Newark, OH 43055, where the funeral service will follow visitation at 7:00 pm with Pastor Roger Decker officiating. As a tribute to Helen's musical legacy, the choir will perform songs she once sang throughout the funeral service. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 10:00 am at Newark Memorial Gardens.
