Helen Bertha Hill, 83, of Newark, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at Altercare Newark South. She was born on December 30, 1941, in Newark, to Lizzie Mae and Fred Flack.

Helen lived a life rooted in faith, love, and devotion. She was a former member of Bethel Rock House of Prayer and a dedicated member of Licking Valley Church of Christ. Her church community was a constant source of joy, and she treasured every opportunity to worship and fellowship.
Helen found peace and purpose in the simple things—tending to her yard, nurturing her garden, listening to music, and dancing whenever the spirit moved her. Above all, she cherished time spent with her family and friends, whose lives were brightened by her warmth, humor, and unwavering love.

She is survived by her children, Toni A. James, Danielle D. McIntyre, Tracy L. Hill Choice Bond, and Valerie Saunders; her angel daughter, Haile; grandchildren, Roger Miles Gleckel, Roberto Choice, Rochell James, Monique James, Nicole James, and Michelle Bon Phillips (Josh); as well as many beloved great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dear friends, Jerry Stallworth and Gloria Shackelford, who were like family to her.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her granddaughter, Shakerrah L. Bishop; and one grandson.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 10:00–11:00 a.m. at Brucker & Kishler Funeral Home, where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Doris Ann Nolan officiating.
