Imogene "Jean" Wells

Imogene “Jean” Lyons Wells, a graveside service for Imogene will be on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at 10 am in Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Imogene, age 95, passed away on April 1, 2026, and was born on May 25, 1930, in Newark, Ohio. She was a graduate of Newark High School, class of 1948.

Before retiring, she worked at Sears, in Heath, as a receiving clerk. She was a former member of the Elks Post #391, Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a former member of the Moose Ladies Auxiliary in Newark. She was a member of the Licking County Humane Society and worked many years along with her husband fighting against animal cruelty and neglect. Imogene was also a member of the Humane Society of the U.S., the A.S.P.C.A., S.P.C.A, Doris Day Animal League and North Shore Animal League.

She is survived by her special niece, Brenda Wells; special friends, Susan Hand; Tracy Wetzel, Roger Boucher, and other nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Donald Wells, in 2017 after battling Parkinson’s Disease for many years; brothers, Floyd Wagner; special nephew, Joe Wells.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can go to the Licking County Humane Society, 825 Thornwood Drive SW, Heath, Ohio 43056.
