James was born on January 16, 1949, in Zanesville. Ohio to the late Ellis George and Betty (Walker) Myers. He lived most of his life in Licking County Ohio and attended Newark High School.
James worked as a custodian for Newark City Schools and retired in 2011 after 30 years of service. Many times, through the years while out with his family children from the schools where he worked would stop and say hello.
James also enjoyed living in the country on his 10-acre farm where he and his wife grew a large garden every year and raised many animals. He is survived by his faithful wife of 55 years, Sue Carol (Gilstrap) Myers; children, Marty (Teresa) Myers, Shawn (Heidi) Myers, Crystal (Mike) Cooper, and Christopher (Stephanie) Myers; grandchildren, Elijah, Kasey, Caleb, Cole, Kloee, Troy, Makayla, Carter, Jaelah, Hunter, and Julienne, and two great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Myers; his uncle, Morris Myers, and his aunt, Bertha and her husband Carson who was very special to him.
