James Wayne Campbell was born on September 9, 1940, in Wellston, Ohio, and later made his home in Newark, Ohio. He was the son of the late Manda Lee DeMoss and John Benjamin Campbell.
James was a charter member of the Clinton Township Fire Department, where he served as an EMT and firefighter. He also worked for 20 years at the Orient Developmental Center and the Ohio State Developmental Center.
He also played a leading role in developing the chair volleyball programs at both the Newark Senior Center and the Granville Senior Center.
James stayed active and enjoyed dancing, playing chess, chair volleyball, swimming, and traveling. Above all, his favorite pastime was studying the Bible.
He is survived by his daughters, Judy (Dan) Boring of Newark, Ohio, and Jean (Kevin) Rouse of Beulaville, North Carolina; his grandchildren, Luke Boring and Emma Boring; sister, Judy Byles of Sun City, CA; and his special friend, Gloria Kelley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Ronda Sue Campbell, his son, Jimmy Campbell Watson, his brother, Ralph Murray, and his sister Joann Cunningham.
Services will be at Bible Baptist Church, 50 Price Road, Newark, Ohio on Thursday, October 15th at 11:00 am with Fellowship to follow.
