James Dean Cummings, age 72, of Newark, passed away at the Arlington Care Center Saturday, February 21, 2026. He was born in Mt. Vernon, IL on October 27, 1953, to the late Ronald D. and Georgeann (Brown) Cummings.

James is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sharon K. (Driskell) Cummings; children, Jordan (Milena) Cummings and Jared (Kathrine) Cummings; grandchildren, Genevieve, Sampson, Octavia, Atlas and Jami Cummings; siblings, Yvonne (James) Haskins, Bill Cummings, Robert (Alyce) Cummings and Rodger (Carla) Cummings.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shana Cummings; siblings, David Cummings, and Pamela Cummings.

A memorial visitation will be held from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, followed by a 2 p.m. memorial service at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st. St, Newark, Ohio 43055.
