James G. Moore, age 72, of Westerville, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 21, 2025. James was born in Newark, Ohio on October 3, 1952, to the late Richard D. and Mary Louise (Dudgeon) Moore.
Jim was a graduate of Newark High School's class of 1970. As a child he is fondly remembered for his love of playing with his vast collection of army men and continued that passion when playing with his nephews. As a teen he loved playing basketball with his friends around his childhood home on Buckingham St. He enlisted in the US Airforce and served from 1970 to 1979 as a sergeant and a Medic. He later married Jackie Ford and enjoyed becoming a father. He loved nature and spending time with his family in the Hocking Hills of Ohio and fishing with his sons. He enjoyed spending time with his nephews by taking them to the park, teaching them to swim, and watching cartoons. He was an avid reader, loved civil war history, and was a huge fan of both Buckeye football and basketball. He worked over the years at Hollophane, Owen's Corning, Rockwell, and Walker's in the Industrial Park.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey D. Moore; sister, Patricia Sayre; and brother-in-law, Bob Henslee.
He is survived by sister, Maureen Henslee of Westerville; brother, Donald "Don" (Alice) Moore Newark; brother-in-law, Robert "Bob" Sayre of Newark; nieces and nephews, Jenny (Robert) Day of Gahanna, Shawn (Trisha) Moore of Frazeysburg, Chad (Misty) Moore of Frazeysburg, Lori (Darrell) Messina of Marengo, Daniel (Jen) Henslee of Westerville, Jessica (Greg) Walker of Marengo; great nieces and nephews, Bailey Moore, Caden Reid, Kendra (Jacob), Ajay (Shayla), Kyle (Amanda), Colt (Emma) Moore, Logan Henslee, Noah Messina, Mason Henslee, Emily Walker, Olivia Messina, Kaitlyn Walker, Trenton, Jasmine, Kayla, Kyle, Kavyn, Karson, Bo, Luke, Mia and Skyla; great-great-nephew Jack Moore; stepsons, Craig and Chad Ford and their families.

There will be no services per Jim's wishes. He will be laid to rest next to his son at Newark Memorial Gardens.
