James John Thier, age 56, of Utica, Ohio, passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital Thursday, June 12, 2025. He was born in the Panama Canal Zone on June 8, 1969, to Eileen and the late James J. Thier.

James proudly served in the U.S. Army. He loved his boxers, fish and horses.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, JenyLou Thier; daughter, Gabriella Thier; brother, Paul Thier; and best friend, James Chaklos.

Visitation will be held from 10 am - 12 pm and 5 - 7 pm Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st, St. Newark, Ohio 43055. A 7 pm funeral service with military honors presented by the Licking County Veterans Alliance will take place immediately following visitation, Pastor Cory Campbell Officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in James' memory may be made to the Ruff Start Boxer Rescue, ℅ Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home.
