Jane E. Lake, 87, of Newark, died Monday, August 19, 2024 at Grant Medical Center. She was born April 15, 1937 in Newark to the late Russell E. and Mary E. (Hunter) Rhodeback.

Jane graduated from Granville High School and worked at Denison University. She was a member of Highwater United Church of Christ. She enjoyed quilting, tending to her flower garden, playing bocce ball, and cheering for the Buckeyes.

She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Tom Lake; grandchildren, Marisa and Alex Lake; daughter-in-law, Misti Mayerchek; and cousins, Linda and Susan Woolard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas H. Lake Jr.; and sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Harold Lee.

Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jane to Highwater WISH a women's group through Highwater United Church of Christ, 1213 Dutch Ln. NW, Newark, OH 43055.

A private graveside service at Fredonia Cemetery will be held at a later date.
