Jean Irene (Brooks) Dyar, age 91, of Newark, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024, at the Embassy of Newark. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on August 30, 1932, to the late Ralph and Elizabeth (Meyers) Brooks.

Jean was a past member of the Lady's Red Hat Society, Newark Maennerchor, and the Elks Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed cooking and catering.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Kelli) Gregg, Donald (Sue) Dyar, Thomas Dyar, Patrick (Jennifer) Dyar, and Mary (Rick) Cannizzaro; 8 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and very dear friend, Wilda Borman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Donald E. Dyar; sisters, Jayne Bolen, Joann Price, and Mary McIntosh; and brother, Gary Brooks.

Visitation will be held from 10am-12pm Friday, August 9, 2024, with a 12pm funeral service at Brucker and Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N 21st, St. Newark, Ohio 43055. A graveside service at Newark Memorial Gardens will take place immediately following the funeral service, Pastor Wally McLaughlin officiating.
