Jerry L. Kaneff, 77 of Newark passed away on March 29, 2024 at his residence. He was born on November 16, 1946 in Newark, OH to the late Charles A. and Doris (Adams) Kaneff, Sr.

Jerry served in the U.S. Marines during Vietnam. He retired from the Licking County Sheriff's Office after 40 years He was a member of the American Legion Post 85 and Moundbuilders Corvette Club. He was an avid Buckeyes fan and poker player and enjoyed going to the casinos. He loved going on the Buckeye Cruise for Cancer every year.

He is survived by his sisters, Charla (Roy) Frazier and Judy Israel; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Linda Kaneff, Gary Coe and Kathy (Michael) Braidich; many nieces and nephew including, Matt and Daphne Trost, Angela Peugh and Robert and Michelle Haywood; and best friends, Stacy, Jana, Roger and Neil.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Jasca Kaneff; brothers, Charles A. Kaneff, Jr., Randy C. Kaneff, Ronald Merritts and Jake Merritts; and niece, Tonya Frazier-Kerns.

The family will receive friends from 1-3 and 5-7pm on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Brucker-Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st St., Newark. Funeral service will begin at 7pm. Military honors will be provided by the Licking County Veteran's Alliance. Please wear Ohio State Buckeyes attire to honor Jerry.
